Grilled European canned peaches

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 ounces) of European canned peaches in syrup or juice
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of melted butter or olive oil
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream (optional, for serving)

 

Instructions:

  • Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are evenly distributed.

  • Prepare the Peaches: Drain the canned peaches and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. If the peaches are halved, they're ready to grill as they are. If they're sliced, you may want to skewer them for easier grilling.

  • Brush with Butter or Oil: In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter or olive oil with the honey or maple syrup, if using. Brush the mixture onto the surface of the peaches.

  • Grill the Peaches: Place the peaches directly on the preheated grill grates, cut-side down. If you're using slices, you can place them on skewers or use a grilling basket to prevent them from falling through the grates. Grill the peaches for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they have grill marks and are slightly caramelized.

  • Serve: Once the European canned peaches are grilled to your liking, remove them from the grill and transfer them to a serving plate. Sprinkle them with a little ground cinnamon or nutmeg, if desired. Serve the grilled peaches warm as is or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
